FOCUS ON ANDERSON

Anderson Luís de Abreu Oliveira, though commonly called as Anerson is a midfielder from Brazil who plays for Fiorentina, the Italian club, on loan from Manchester United. He is an extremely gifted young footballer who represents his national team with great strength, tackling ability and vision. Anderson was born on 13th April, 1988 at Porto Alegre, Brazil and is a great box-to-box midfielder.

His career took off with Brazilian club Grêmio and from there rose in the ranks with his growing stature and earned play in Série A of Brazil. Anderson moved to Porto in 2005-06 and made the first team status with the team in the 2 seasons he played with them. The season was highly rewarding with 2 Portuguese Liga wins, Portuguese Super Cup and Portuguese Cup. Prior to the 2007-08 season Anderson he shifted to Manchester United and won the Premier League 3 times, League Cup and UEFA Champions League 2007-08. Anderson’s Brazilian debut came in with 2007 Copa América and Brazil won it for the same year. He was also a member of the Brazilian Team that won the Bronze in the 2008 Summer Olympics held in Beijing.

Anderson’s youth career began in 1993 with Grêmio and was promoted to senior play with the same club in 2004. Playing as a midfielder he appeared 19 times for the senior team and scored 6 times. He switched to Porto in 2006-07 and played 19 times scoring 2 goals. His move to Manchester United happened in 2007 where he made 104 appearances scoring 5 goals.

Currently he is with the Italian club Fiorentina loaned by the parent club Manchester United and has played just 3 games. His national debut for Brazil was in 2005 and he played 12 under-17 games with 7 goals and in 2008 he played 5 games scoring once for the U-23.

For Brazil he appeared 8 times for international matches, though its unlikely he’ll be included in the squad for this summer.
