CAVALIERI: CESENA CAREER IN FOCUS

Brazilian star Diego Cavalieri spent two years at Premier League giants Liverpool before he moved to Italian football to play in the colours of Cesena. He had earlier joined the Reds from Palmeiras in his native Brazil in 2008. At Liverpool, Diego Cavalieri failed to make a single appearance in the Premier League as he was unable to usurp Spaniard Pepe Reina who was the first choice goalkeeper. It must be pointed out that Cavalieri played eight matches for Liverpool in other competitions.

On August 18, 2010, Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson informed reporters that Diego Cavalieri is on his way out of the Merseyside club. According to him, the Brazilian shot stopper will join Italian team Cesena after the game against Turkish team Trabzonspor in the Europa League. Five days later, his transfer to Cesena was confirmed. His move to Cesena paved the way for Brad Jones to take his number one jersey. (more…)


CAVALIERI: 2013 FIFA CONFEDERATIONS CUP EXAMINED

Diego Cavalieri was in the Brazil squad as they defeated Spain to win the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup on home soil. Cavalieri was one of three goalkeepers in the Brazil squad to the tournament. Diego Cavalieri was on the payroll of Fluminense in the Brazilian league at the time and joined in the 23-man Brazil squad by fellow goalkeepers Julio Cesar and Jefferson.


Cavalieri and Brazil were drawn in the same group as Italy, Mexico and Japan in Group A. In their first group game, Brazil thrashed Japan 3-0 with star player Neymar getting one of the goals. He gave Brazil the lead in the third minute before midfielder Paulinho doubled the lead at the start of the second half. The second Brazil goal was also scored in the third minute of the second half. HOW LIVERPOOL SIGNED DIEGO CAVALIERI

Brazilian shot stopper Diego Cavalieri had not played any football outside of his native Brazil before he was snapped up by Premier League heavyweights Liverpool in July 2008. Sao Paulo-born Cavalieri began his career at Palmeiras in the Brazilian league.

Diego Cavalieri made his Palmeiras debut in the big win over Rio Claro on June 24, 2002. He was in goal during the game which ended in a 4-0 victory for his team. (more…)


DIEGO CAVALIERI: PALMEIRAS CAREER REVIEWED

Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri started his professional football career at Palmeiras. He was in the youth team before being promoted at the Brazilian Serie A club. During his time in the Palmeiras first team, Diego Cavalieri played 65 times in the league.

Sao Paulo-born shot stopper Diego Cavalieri played his first game for the Palmeiras senior team during the win over Rio Claro on the 24th of June, 2002. He made his Palmeiras senior team debut during the Rio Claro game which ended in a 4-0 win. The Brazilian international was in the Palmeiras first team from his debut against Rio Claro to the summer of 2008 when he signed for Liverpool in the Premier League.

CAVALIERI: FIFA U-17 W/CUP (1999) REVIEWED

Diego Cavalieri was a member of the Brazilian team that won a second title at the 1999 edition of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in New Zealand. Diego Cavalieri and his Brazilian teammates were drawn in a tricky group ahead of the tournament. They were in Group C alongside Germany, Australia and Mali.

Rubinho and Diego Cavalieri were the only goalkeepers in the Brazil squad according to the goalkeeping requirement for each participating team at the tournament. Rubinho was the starting goalkeeper, while Diego Cavalieri had to settle for a place on the bench throughout the tournament.

CAVALIERI: BRAZIL MAJOR HONOURS REVEALED

Diego Cavalieri won the first of his three trophies with the Brazilian national team at the u-17 level. The shot stopper was a part of the Brazil team that won a second World Cup title at the 1999 FIFA u-17 World Cup tournament in New Zealand.


Brazil won the 1999 FIFA u-17 World Cup tournament by beating Australia in the final, while Ghana and the United States of America had to settle for third and fourth respectively. Diego Cavalieri was in the Brazilian squad that defeated Australia on penalties to win the tournament in New Zealand after the two teams had settled for a goalless draw. CAVALIERI: PREMIER LEAGUE CAREER UNVEILED

Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Cavalieristarted his Premier League career at Liverpool. He moved to Anfield from the Brazilian league in 2008. Cavalieri signed for the Reds on July 11, 2008. He penned a four-year deal at Liverpool who were said to have parted ways with an undisclosed fee believed to be around £3m for the transfer.

Cavalieri left Palmeiras to have a taste of Premier League football via Liverpool. He became the third Brazilian player at Anfield after Lucas Leiva and Fabio Aurelio. Liverpool assigned the number one shirt to Diego Cavalieri upon his transfer. The shirt was last worn by Polish shot stopper Jerzy Dudek before it was assigned to Cavalieri.Dudek is famous at Liverpool for his heroics in the penalty shootout as the Reds won the Champions League title in 2005 after beating AC Milan in the final. He also made some stunning saves during the 120 minutes played before the dreaded shootout.

CAVALIERI: SELECAO CAREER EXAMINED

Veteran shot stopper Diego Cavalieri made three appearances for the Brazilian national team under former manager Mano Menezes. Diego Cavalieri was in the Selecao of Brazil squad between 2012 and 2013.

Diego Cavalieri received his first call up to the Brazil squad in November 2012 for the Superclasico de las Americas and he helped his country win the title in what his first game for his country. He went on to make two more appearances.

Veteran Brazilian shot stopper Diego Cavalieri has wonfour major honours in his career spanning almost two decades. He came through the ranks at Palmeiras in his native Brazil before making his debut for the senior team.

Diego Cavalieriholds both a Brazilian and Italian passport but he has spent the majority of his football career in Brazil. The 38-year-old is said to be of Italian ancestry though it must be pointed out that he has played in Italy just once and that was at Cesena in 2010.

DIEGO CAVALIERI: PALACE CAREER EXAMINED

Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri was a surprise signing for Premier League club Crystal Palace when he signed for them on a short-term contract. Diego Cavalieriwas signed on a free transfer by the Eagles on March 2, 2018.

Diego Cavalieri didn’t make any appearance for Palace by the time his short-term deal ended at the club in June 2018. His last club was Brazilian Serie A outfit Fluminenseand his contract at the club ended at the end of 2017.
