HODGSON LAVISH PRAISE ON LOFTUS-CHEEK

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has lavished praise on the club’s midfield star Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The Chelsea star on loan at the club helped them stay afloat last term. After the worst possible start in the league’s history – losing all seven games, without a single goal –, Palace fought back to finish 11th on the log at the end of last season.

The Blues loanee helped the Eagles fight on and retain their top flight status. His performance earned him a call-up to the Three Lions by coach Gareth Southgate last November. The 22-year old had his World Cup debut in the England vs. Tunisia game last week.

LIVERPOOL FANS SHOULD REMEMBER CAVALIERI

Liverpool fans should remember the name Diego Cavalieri. The 32-year-old Brazilian keeper, moved to Liverpool in 2008 after signing a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £3 million.

Cavalieri became the third Brazilian player at the club, following the signings of Fábio Aurélio and Lucas Leiva. Upon his arrival, he was handed the number 1 shirt, last worn by Jerzy Dudek. Cavalieri made his competitive debut on 23 September 2008 against Crewe Alexandra in the third round of the League Cup.
